Risky move..

Ok. So it was sort of a dumb move to suddenly change the url of my blog since I was just starting to build up an audience for it. Now it feels like I'm starting all over again. *sigh*

I don't know how to describe what I felt when I saw one of my articles featured on a certain website (http://carboncapturereport.org). I was happy of course, not until I saw that the article was traced back to brainstormed92(the former identity of this blog)!! grrr..

Besides from that, I have to make this blog visible on search engines (again). It took some time before I got braintormed92 visible and it was not easy. Also, I have to update my accounts on all the social network communities for bloggers(what's this?) that I belong to.

Isn't that a bummer?! hmph!

"n" ways to Help Mitigate Global Warming (full article)

*unfamiliar word/s* MITIGATE means “to lessen” or “to make less severe”

First and foremost, what is Global Warming? Well, Global Warming is defined as the increase in temperature of the earth’s atmosphere. It has done a lot of damage to our ozone layer and we all have felt its consequences. Sad to say, there is no way for us to reverse the damage that it has done. All we can do now is to help mitigate Global Warming so that we can somehow lessen its harmful effects. As a student, here are some of the simple ways that I have thought of:

  • 3 Rs- I will reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Ya I know. It’s a very common answer but it’s also one of the simplest things that we can do to help mitigate the effects of Global Warming.

  • I will segregate my garbage.

Have you noticed the different colored trash bins around the FEU campus? This is an example of waste segregation. We can be a lot of help by simply putting our trash in their corresponding bins.

  • I will participate in clean up drives.
  • I will join organizations concerned with the environment.

Being active in such organizations will broaden my understanding on how to save “Mother Earth”. I will also be able to apply what I have learned through participating in the organization’s activities. As a bonus to that, it is a good way to make new friends, not just on facebook, but in real life as well.

  • I will plant more trees.

Planting trees is one of the best ways. Why? Trees consume carbon dioxide which is one of the great contributors in Global Warming. In addition to that, trees also provide a cooling effect in the atmosphere. We might actually have a chance of having snow in the Philippines! haha joking :) But seriously, we should plant more trees—plants will also do :)

  • I will not and never will smoke.

Cigarettes, due to its chemical components, emit or produce gases that are harmful not just to human health but also to the environment as well—So DON’T SMOKE. It’s also a way of saying “NO” to bad breath. XD

  • I will walk whenever possible.

Besides from the good health benefits, it will also help lessen the use of fuel which lessens the smoke immited due to its use. If your destination is just a few blocks away, why not take a walk? If all of us does this, imagine how much we will save and how a great help this would be in mitigating the production of greenhouse gases. Plus, it’s a good way to burn calories. XD Riding a bike is also a good idea.

  • I will not leave appliances (ex. tv) on standby and unplug them when not in use.

Appliances also consume energy when in standby so it is better if you just turn it off –that’s the purpose of the “off button”—-and unplug it whenever not in use. It’s a great help in reducing your energy consumption— which will also lessen the amount on your electricity bill XD.

  • I’ll turn the lights off when not needed especially when it’s day time.

The sun light’s free! Make use of it.

  • I will minimize my use of plastic and styrofoam.

These are known to be non-biodegradable and great contributors of greenhouse gases when burned. Do you know the “green bags” (I’m not sure if that’s what they call ‘em) they sell at SM?? You can use that when you shop instead of plastic bags. You just helped in protecting the environment. Plus, it’s a good fashion statement. :)

  • I will use recycled (ex. paper, pencil, etc…) and environment friendly products whenever possible.

Recycled products like notebooks are usually cheaper so it’s budget friendly .It’s not as attractive as other products but it serves the same purpose so there’s nothing really wrong with it.On the other hand, environment friendly products such as insect repellants that contain no harmful chemical compounds cost a bit more, but it’ll surely be of great help. Money can be earned but the effects of Global Warming are IRREVERSIBLE.

  • I will not litter.

Trash bins are everywhere, just look for them.

  • I will share what I know.

Sharing what you know will motivate other people and will make them aware of such things. Simple blog posts like this is one of the best ways to do so.

Even if we are just students, there are multiple ways for us to help save and protect the environment. And these are just some of them, so there are NO excuses for us not to do anything. We must bear in mind that not a single, not even two, three, or ten persons can do this by themselves. We should cooperate and to this together. It’s not just for other people. It’s for our own good as well. Why hesitate in doing something so little when we can do so much with it?

I FINALLY HAVE MY OWN DANCE STUDIO!!!

Weeeeee!!! I finally have my OWN DANCE STUDIO!!! Haha :) Well not really. I just had this blog renamed. This was formerly "BRAINSTORMED92"

Why did I change it??

Well I already had thoughts of changing my blog’s name a few months ago but it was just now that I had the time to do it. I changed it because I wanted the blog title to be more descriptive of me and of what the blog is about.

Why “MY OWN DANCE STUDIO”??

Finding it hard to come up with the perfect name for my blog, I thought of some words that I could relate myself to and two of them were the words life and dance. As what we have discussed in P.E., dance is a man’s primitive and natural way of self-expression (something like that :D ) so I came up with “Dance Studio”. I see a dance studio as a dancer’s personal space where he/she can express himself/herself and that’s what my blog is—IT IS MY OWN personal space where I can share my thoughts and experiences in life. Besides, I’ve always wanted to be in one and now is my chance to have my own! haha

The contents are the same and all my older posts are still here so nothing much has changed.

I hope to see you here more often, aight?

NOTE:

Just in case you were wondering, this blog won't be entirely about dancing. It would still contain random stuff so I do hope you'll find something that'll be of your interest :)

Happy holidays!! ^_^

Uh-oh...

I just got a feedback from one of the very few readers of my blogs (this blog and my other one--http://teachermaui.com/enriquezdominique107) and he said that he will no longer be commenting on my blog(here) because upon reading my previous post, he thought that I only like and appreciate comments from strangers . (Wah?! So not true!) Let me clear that up. I really appreciate every single comment that I receive on my blogs ,including my mom's and her friends'. It's just that I can't help but get the feeling that they're just saying I'm good because they know me or because they know my mom, but don't get me wrong. I really, really do appreciate every comment ,whether it is positive or negative, because it tells me that there are people who give time just to read my blog and that encourages me to keep posting. I just wanted to clear that up because that [what I said on my previous post] was totally misunderstood.I'm really sorry about that. :T

Anyways, happy holidays (in advance) everyone! ^_^

What just happened?!

WOW. Somebody just compared me to a famous author ! Wah!!!! I’m not really sure if what just happened inspired me or pressured me. All I know is that it feels really, really good. :)

I remember some of the comments that I received on my 1st blog. Well yes, they were praising me and stuff but most of the time it was just my mom and some of her friends that she invited to visit my blog so I didn’t feel much fulfillment. Maybe it’s because I know that it’s usually the intuition of parents (most especially the “mom”) to be very supportive of their kids–like saying “Oh my God! You did this? It’s beautiful!” even though you just drew “stick people” beside a tree with a “stick trunk” under a sun with “stick rays”. :D Am I right or am I right? haha Well you really don’t have a choice because that’s reality and you can’t deny it. Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with it but it’s just more fulfilling when other people praise you and tell you that you’re good.

It also felt really nice because now I can say that I’m “college good” rather than just good enough for high school . You know what I’m saying? Well it’s like this–ever since I started receiving recognitions and stuff , it felt like I had this endless responsibility of proving to everybody that I’m really deserving. I don’t know if it’s just in my head but I really can’t help but push myself. It gets really frustrating and pressuring at some point that I tend to set the bar too high for myself and end up getting really disappointed. I tend to.... Click here to read more
